CENTURION HIKING CLUB

The Centurion Hiking Club is a registered NPC for social and recreational activities for all persons with a common love for socialising, walking and hiking in the outdoors and for the appreciation of nature.

The Centurion Hiking Club is founded on the principles of friendship, kindness, respect, and gratitude. Our club’s EXCO Members and Hike Leaders volunteer their time to maintain a high level of professionalism. We believe in an attitude of gratitude. Showing gratitude is one of the healthiest and most powerful things we can do for each other.

The Centurion Hiking Club organises various day hikes for Saturdays, Sundays, Sunday afternoons and Public Holidays. Backpack hikes, base camping hikes, slackpacking and weekend hikes, which range between 2 and 8 days, are also arranged.

All events and hikes are arranged in a structured and considered way, with the safety and wellbeing of our members always as a top priority. Routes, group sizes and logistics are carefully planned to ensure a safe and supportive hiking environment for everyone. At the same time, we believe that hiking should be enjoyable and rewarding, so our events are designed to balance good organisation with a relaxed, social atmosphere where members can fully enjoy the hike, the scenery, and the shared experience along the way.

Our club may carry the name Centurion, but our spirit of adventure reaches far beyond. We regularly hike at different venues across the provinces and occasionally even in neighbouring countries.

Beginners up to experienced hikers are welcome to join us for the walks and hikes.

There is no minimum amount of hikes that you have to attend in order to remain a member of the club. You simply join and participate when you have the available time to do so.

The Centurion Hiking Club also supports various annual charity and social fun run/walk events, including an annual Women’s Day events by Echoes Of Elsewhere and other local events by CANSA, I love Boobies, SPAR Women’s Race, YouMatterWalk, Insimbi Rhino Conservation Fun Run/Walk and other social fun walks and charity events in the area.

All the information pertaining to social events, walks and hikes is communicated on the Centurion Hiking Club Facebook Page as well as on the Centurion Hiking Club WhatsApp Groups.
